  • Create! was founded in 2006 with the objective of providing an organization that would give visual and performing artists, writers, and anyone who loves the arts the opertunity to work together to develop programs and shows that will promote the arts and provide educational service to the community. Below are a few of the wonderful events that we are proud to have sponsored.

  • 2012 August 26th Fancy That! Violinist Marissa Regni presented “Fancy That!:, a program that integrates music and art, at the Larimer Arts Center, 216 Reid Street, Palatka, Florida, on Sunday, August 26, 2012, at 3:00 p.m. This program was open to the public at no charge, and all age groups were invited to attend. Ms. Regni demonstrated how composers “fancy up” music, and young artists  interpret the music with their artistic creations.

    Violinist Marissa Regni will present “Fancy That!:, a program that integrates music and art, at the Larimer Arts Center, 216 Reid Street, Palatka, Florida, on Sunday, August 26, 2012, at 3:00 p.m. This program is open to the public at no charge, and all age groups are invited to attend. Ms. Regni will demonstrate how composers “fancy up” music, and young artists will interpret the music with their artistic creations.

    “Fancy That!” is one of a series of children’s concerts created by Regni whereby the audience can dialog with her as she presents musical ideas. The children use their imaginations and make up stories based on the music. The stories are then put to paper as Regni performs the music.

    Sponsored by Create! the Artist’s Guild of North Florida and the Arts Council of Greater Palatka, with support from Putnam County Tourist Development, State of Florida Department of State. Division of Cultural Affairs, and The Florida Council on Arts and Culture. Refreshments will be served after the performance.« »

    Ms. Regni has performed this program to sold-out audiences at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and throughout the United Sates as part of the National Symphony Orchestra’s American Residencies.

    Ms. Regni is Principal Second Violinist of the National Symphony Orchestra. Before coming to Washington, D.C., she was a member of the St. Louis Symphony. She is a member of the critically acclaimed Manchester String Quartet, and was a founding member of The Kennedy Center Chamber Players. She has made solo and chamber music appearances throughout the United States, Germany and Mexico. She has collaborated with such artists as John Williams, Leonard Slatkin, Joseph Silverstein, The Angeles Quartet and many others. Solo appearances with orchestra include the St. Louis Symphony, The National Symphony Orchestra, Virginia Chamber Orchestra, Livingston Symphony, and the Ridgewood Symphony. Ms. Regni has been a featured artist on National Public Radio and the McNeil/Lehrer Report.

    A graduate of the Eastman School of Music, Ms. Regni received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees and was awarded the School’s prestigious Performer’s Certificate in Violin. She also has a diploma from The Juilliard School of Music.

  • 2012 April 14, Saturday 10:00 a.m. Speaker Christy Sheffield Sanford Presented a power point presentation, “ African-American Sculpture: First Half of the 20th Century “ at the Crescent City Library, Christy Sheffield Sanford gave a talk and power point presentation on sculptors of the Harlem Renaissance. Work by those slightly before and after and from various parts of the U.S. will also be shown. Six artists work were prominently featured: Meta Vaux Warrick Fuller, Sargent Claude Johnson, Augusta Fells Savage, Selma Hortense Burke, Richmond “Jimmie” Barthé and Elizabeth Catlett Mora. Sculptures of important “renaissance” figures such as Duke Ellington, A. Philip Randolph, James Weldon Johnson, and Katherine Dunham will also be included. Augusta Savage was born in Green Cove Springs, and A. Philip Randolph was born in Crescent City.
   
  • 2012 February, Christian Services children’s’ art project . Create! sponsored a creative children’s’ art workshop at the Christian Services Center. Children were able to create their own valentine cards promoting originality and writing skills.
   
  • 2011 December 10, 7 p.m., Create! the Artists' Guild of North Florida in Partnership with The Arts Council of Greater Palatka presented Margaret Ross Tolbert Larimer Arts Center, 216 Reid St., Palatka. Painter Margaret Ross Tolbert provided an illustrated lecture entitled "AQUIFERious and Beyond", at the Larimer Arts Center, 216 Reid Street, Palatka. This free event and reception was open to the public. AQUIFERious won the Florida 2011 Non Fiction Book Award. Devoted to Florida springs, the book is in its second printing. Tolbert's art, poetry and essays result from a deep commitment0 in her focus.Saturday, December 10, There will be a presentation and Reception for world renowned, guest artist Margaret Ross Tolbert. All artists should be present. Members are asked to bring delicate delights-finger foods. Painter Margaret Ross Tolbert will present an illustrated talk entitled "AQUIFERious and Beyond" at 7 p.m. December 10, at the Larimer Arts Center. Reception to follow. Margaret Ross Tolbert's book AQUIFERious won the Florida 2011 Non Fiction Book Award. The book, devoted to Florida springs, is in its second printing. Margaret's art, poetry and essays share her deep immersion in an unquenchable passion.ed in Gainesville, Florida. Over the last twenty years, she has executed series of paintings, drawings and lithographs from studios in the U.S., France and Turkey. Her commissions include painting projects with residencies in Turkey, Azerbaijan and Oman. These working opportunities have enabled her to continue research for her series of works related to doors and the study of language and dance from the regions of the ancient trade routes. Another continuing focus is the Springs of North Florida, whose paradisaical presence provides a sense of ideal destination and the exotic in the here-and-now that counterpoints the sense of passage, time and journey implicit in the Door paintings. Her work also includes performances based on ethnic dance and the pursuit of the exotic.Solo exhibits include: Margaret Ross Tolbert: Doors at the University of Richmond Museums, (August 2005 - July 2006); Passages, at The Polk Museum in Lakeland, Florida, (Fall 2004); Springs Eternal?, at the Gulfcoast Museum of Art, (2003); Palace/Spring at Galleri Max in Stockholm, Sweden (1996); Aquifer, at LeMieux Galleries in New Orleans (2002); and Portals and Passages, at the Museum of Florida History, Daytona Museum of Arts and Sciences, Gulfcoast Art Center and Okaloosa Walton Community College (1997 - 1998). Group shows include Jord, Eld, Vatan, with four other artists at Martenpers Kella in Brantevik, Sweden, with Energy dance performance with Stefan Craciun; American Confluences, at Edsvik Konsthall in Sollentuna, Sweden (2006); Growth Spurt by Edgezones at World Arts Center, Miami, FL (2005 - 2006); WET, World Arts Center, Miami, FL (2005); The Swamp, on the Edge of Eden, a group exhibit at the Harn Museum in Gainesville, FL (2000); H2O, a traveling group exhibit that toured venues in Florida and Georgia (2000 - 2002); and Han, an exhibit with Nitin Jayaswal based on the caravansaries of the ancient trade routes, with venues in Jacksonville and New Orleans (2000 - 2001). She has received a Visual Arts Fellowship (1997 - 1998) from the State of Florida, and has had several residencies, including A Sense of Place, at Jamestown Community College, Olean, New York (1993), master classes with art and literature students on uses of landscape as metaphor, and Integrating through the Arts, at the Museum of Arts and Sciences, Daytona Beach, FL ( 1997). In 2003 she installed Cloudspring, a permanent installation at the Gulfcoast Museum of Art; and Springs Passage, paintings for the Volusia County Courthouse (Art-in-State Buildings), was installed in 2002. Other public art installations were completed for the Overtown metrorail Station (Miami Dade Art in Public Places) and recently a project with lenticular panels with Nitin Jayaswal for the Weston Public Library for Broward County Public Art and Design. Her work also encompasses performance and writing; she recently published GEZI, a book of sketches and narratives from travels in Eastern Turkey.It is an honor for us to present this special guest artis . The world renowned Margerate Tolbert will give a presentation on December 10, at 7:00 PM.

   
  •  2011 December-Create! presented visuals and information on the topic of Eco Arts. This was a rich overview of five impulses feeding the movement. Christy Sanford referenced historical antecedents for each approach: Appreciators, Meditators, Recyclers, Activists and Crafters. Artists’ work represented included Hoefnagel, Ruysch, Monet, Turner, Butcher, Steir, Smithson, Goldsworthy, Lin, Gaudi, Nevelson, Chamberlain, Pfaff, Sze, Beuys, Coe, Bing, Anatsui, Ng, Clement and others. A Free light lunch was provided following the presentation. The Agnes Varda film The Gleaners and I, was presented.
   
  • 2011 October- Each year Create! sponsors a free children’s creative art workshop at the Enchanted Ravines.
   
  • 2011, In September, Create! members met at the Ravine Gardens State Park to create artistic designs for placement of over 100 large tiles that members previously hand painted with botanicals. Each botanical tile represents flora found in the park. The tiles will be displayed at the Campbell Building at the Ravine Gardens State Park.

  •    2011 May-Create! sponsored a Free Poetry event open to the public.Lessons: Four Jane's Stories Writers recited pros On Growing Up, Growing Older, Growing Better. The original poetry, memoir and fiction from four members of Jane's Stories Press Foundations’ Florida Jane’s Circle. Larimer Arts Center, Sunday, May 15, 3-5 p.m., 216 Reid Street, Palatka, Florida. Jane’s Stories .Press Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission of encouraging diverse women's voices in publishing, with special emphasis on women over 50 and under 21, and women of color. Members provided a small reception.   • 2011, February- In on going support for the Putnam County Humane Society, Create! donated artwork and card designs.

  •  2011 January 13, Crescent City Art Show-CREATE!- The Artists Guild of North Florida displayed art works depicting Florida scenes at the Crescent City Public Library beginning January 13, 2011. All the displaying artists live in North Florida and are members of CREATE!. This show was in conjunction with ONE BOOK - ONE PUTNAM. ONE BOOK - ONE PUTNAM and was presented by the Putnam County Library System and the book for that years County-Wide-Read is "Seasons of Real Florida" by Jeff Klinkenberg. Participating artists were present for the meet and greet the artists event on Feb. 5, from 3-5 PM. It was free and open to the public to help promote One Book One Putnam’s reading program.
